In 2004 Steve Koch and his former partner bought “Big Red”. They had the airplane, a dream, a tank of gas, a stand, and a sign set up outside the old Bowman Field terminal building. The sign read “Biplane Tours” It was a “Lemonade Stand style” beginning for this wonderful family legacy. Through the years Classic Biplane Tours has sponsored and put on many charitable events including, Blue Star, Bowman Fest, Make a Wish, and Santa for Downs who had a very notable guest one year, Louisville native, Jennifer Lawrence. 2023 Steve announced his retirement and the future sale of Classic Biplane Tours, and Big Red. The spring of 2024 it was announced that the family business would continue with Steve’s son CJ, and his wife.
